PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE 2006-07 |
AGM
Wednesday, September 6, 2006, 7:00 p.m.,
Coast Inn of the North, Tabor Room
In preparation for the new season I would like to urge all members, prospective members &/or spares to attend the AGM. This year we have a number of issues to deal with and it should be more than the usual applause to approve the election of officers, reports and then drink beer.
The agenda will include, but not be limited to the following:
| Committee reports for 05-06 | |
| Election of officers for 06-07 | |
| Centre line, in or out? | |
| League schedule to run from October 11th until March 14th. Holding fees to $425 for full-time members and $10.00 per game for spares. | |
| Year end tournament April 6, 7 & 8, 2007: cancel the banquet, modify beer gardens, focus on the playing teams & tournament itself. |
We should all be looking forward to a good season of playing hockey with our friends once again. It is always interesting to see the new faces coming in to the league, both as players and involvement with the organization and running of our league. Which brings me to the following:
This league has flourished for 27 years on volunteer input from those who truly care about the fellowship first and competition second that you have provided. It is only through newer members taking up the challenge of giving a little of their time to help keep us going. I have agreed to let my name stand to run for President of the 06-07 season. HOWEVER, should anyone else be interested I would be glad to welcome your candidacy prior to or at the AGM. The same goes for any of the other positions.
Over the years members have served unselfishly in positions that has required time and effort to benefit of all the members. I have found that they are always willing to help out with ideas and advice for those who have taken on these positions upon their vacancy. If you choose to volunteer you will receive lots of help.
It is your league and you should contribute. We all have obligations away from the rink so that excuse doesn’t hold a lot of water with those who have already served successive terms. Just paying your dues and showing up isn’t enough. Get involved. Your efforts will be appreciated and respected.
In leading up to the AGM I welcome any suggestions, questions, requests or additions of topics to the agenda. I look forward to seeing you all there.
Bob Quinlan
PGOHA President, 05-06
