The economic impact of a hockey tournament is substantial in any community. You may find the following study from Saskatchewan interesting. To read more. Click> The Economic impact of a old timer's hockey tournament in Saskatchewan: A case study of Estevan. The PGOHA tournament attracts up to 36 teams to our annual tournament. Teams predominantly come from Kitmat, 100 Mile House, Burns Lake, Chetwynd, Dawson Creek, Fort St John, Hudson's Hope, Kamloops, Lillooet, Terrace, McBride, Prince Rupert, Vanderhoof, Quesnel, and Williams Lake to name a few. Some teams travel from other provinces like the Dog Lake Raiders. The community of Prince George benefits because about 18 to 20 teams require accommodation. They purchase meals, buy gas, and often make it a shopping trip for the whole family. Our banquet at the Coast Inn of the North has been sold out the last few years. |
